norwegian cats

the breed

noble
and wild

This ancient breed has a legendary story. Norwegian cat is ideal for those who are looking for a wild and noble, but also playful, companion. It has a strong personality, but it’s not aggressive, and this makes it a perfect pet for children.

Native to norway, it reached us thanks to the trade between the vikings and the byzantine empire, around the year one thousand.  Norwegian cat was sacred to vikings, and it sailed with viking sailors during their long crossings in order to protect the boats from mice. Its long fur coat has always been an advantage and provided natural protection  to cope with the harsh norse winter.

According to norse mythology the goddes of fertility and love, actually travelled in a golden chariot drawn by a pair of norwegian forest cats. Farmers use to leave some milk outside the door for stray cats, in order to get freya’s favor in return, as she’s also the goddess of abundance.

about us

cat lovers

Wania and Stefano. A couple in love. A couple in love with cats. A couple in love with Norwegian cats.
We live a symbiotic life with our cats in a big house in Riese Pio X, in the northeastern Italy’s countryside. For our furry members of the family, we created an oasis of peace and fun, where they can find a cat run at their disposal, and in every room of the house there are equipped areas for the relax of our furry friends.

Our story

Inspired by our European muses we adopted from ENPA (non-profit national board for the animal protection), a couple of years ago we turned our gaze towards the north and we bumped into this gorgeous breed. Thanks to Ornella we could have our first Norwegian cat, Naytiri, a beautiful silver. From that moment on our love towards this breed has always been increasing, untill we took the decision to open a small home breeding which began with Morgana, a tortie, who gave birth to the first litter.
